Extreme Poverty in Zimbabwe: 1800 to Today (and Tomorrow)

The subsequent decades saw incremental movement, declining to 75 % in the 1950s and 68.33 % in the 1960s. Progress accelerated toward the 1980s at 55 %, holding steady until the 2010s at 45 %. For a child born in a previous century, the likelihood of living in extreme poverty was a constant, defined by the 80 % estimate of the 1800s. Today, that probability has been reshaped, with future projections suggesting a decline to 26.25 % in the 2030s, eventually reaching 3.5 % in the 2100s.
